May 2009 Sweet Afton is the white (-ish) rose I got out of my new set. It's spread out the most of any of them, and just started blooming. It does smell nice, too. :-)
Fragrant Cloud is lurking above in its pot. I'm still not happy with that one, but haven't figured out what I'm going to do with it. |

May 2009: First bloom

May 2009 I'm quite happy with Sweet Afton. It's the baby rose that's sprawled out and grown the most, and also produced the most flowers. It seems happy. I don't think of myself as a person who likes white roses THAT much, and I mostly got one because I was getting one of every other color. But I'm really liking this one. :-) |

July 2009 This is the best of my baby roses. Sweet Afton has spread out nicely and is now shooting tall. It's also produced the most flowers, and is opening up another round.
Its neighbor, Mr. Lincoln, is about the same height, but is a bit more leggy. |

July 2009 I've been quite pleased with Sweet Afton... I'd been second-guessing my decision to get this white rose (especially after encountering Pope John Paul II and finding out what a stunningly smelly white rose that is), but I'm glad I got it. Sweet Afton has a lovely scent that's not as potent as Neptune but still quite strong, and I'm liking the way the blossoms stay cupped until just before spreading full out. The bush has also been the best-growing of the baby roses, spreading out the most and now shooting tall. |

July 2009: Bud

September 2009 IMy front yard looks so lovely with so many roses in bloom: Double Delight, Sweet Afton, Mr. Lincoln, Rock & Roll (which has tons of flowers right now), Arizona, and the unknown tall red are all in bloom. Mardi Gras is about to launch a massive wave, too.
I love pulling up into the driveway and seeing my pretty yard. |

October 2009 TThis opening Sweet Afton attracted my eye since it's such a deep cup at the moment. Of course I didn't realize there was a little spider in there until I blew up the photo. :D I think it's one of the little green spiders that live on the roses. Hey, if they eat the bad bugs, I'm not going to bother them. |
|
October 2009 Lay on the ground for this shot, but I love sky backgrounds for flowers. Sweet Afton is sort of a tall gawky adolescent, and this flower is right at the top. |
|
December 2009 I like the cup form of this rose. And it smells so good. This particular flower is blooming right at nose-height, so I have to stop and smell it every time I go up the front walkway. |
|
December 2009 Afton seems to bloom right at the top of the plant or down near the bottom. |
