October 2009
I've been wanting this rose for a while -- ever since I dunked my nose in one at a nursery -- but I'm rather glad I waited. The nursery had a mega clearance sale that started today and all the 5-gallon roses were 50% off. :D I came home with four. I even got two white ones (a bit odd for me since I gravitate toward the bolder colors).
This one was a given, but I also picked up the David Austin rose Windermere... it's creamier, though, with a touch of apricot. Had to get that one since Julie loves it so much and hasn't been able to find it. No pictures yet because it's only got buds and no open flowers.
The Pope, though? Ohhhh what a smell. It rivals Neptune, Double Delight, and French Perfume. It's that strong and that good.
It's also my only true white rose. Pristine and Sweet Afton have touches of pink, and Windermere will have that cream/apricot.
