January 2010 With rain expected all week, I knew I'd better get the last roses pruned. So I cut off the flowers and brought them inside. *sigh* Not that I had enough vases for them. I just have two small bud vases, so a cup was also pulled.
Carol Burnett is in the green cup, currently apricot-colored. Some of these flowers opened up yellow.
In the blue vase is the unknown salmon rose.
And the pope is down below. The blooms are so big I couldn't fit another vase in there. |

March 2010 Of all the places in either my front or back yard, this probably gets the most sun.
In the white square pots from foreground to background are Carol Burnett, Enchanted Evening, Purple Tiger, New Zealand, Pope John Paul II, and Tuscan Sun. In the two round terra cotta pots are Louise Odier and Heirloom (the two rescues from too much shade in the front yard). |

April 2010 Cracking open its first bud since the prune. I can already smell the heady perfume. |

April 2010 Ruffled from the rain. Pope John Paul II rose shortly after the rain stopped. |
|
April 2010 It's hard to photograph pure white roses. Bah. But it is pure white, it's lovely, and it smells divine. (Pun intended.) It's opening up for the first flush. |

August 2010 It's in bloom again! I hadn't really gone out to my garden much this week. I vaguely remember when I last watered that a bud on Pope John Paul II was getting fat. But when I went out to water yesterday afternoon, there was this perfectly open flower!
It smells so good, too. There are more buds, but this is the first one to open. |
