Rock & Roll Grandiflora

When I was replanting my front flower bed, I ran into a problem: all the things I was planting would take years to mature. Meanwhile, the bed looked depressingly bare. I finally decided to see if I could dig out three spots for roses behind the lemon and lime trees. Once those trees grow up, I'll probably have to move the roses, but that's going to take quite a while.

Dave suggested that I transplant some of the back yard roses I wanted to keep (since we plan to redo the back yard and one of the rose clusters will need to go), so I took two from there... but I had one more spot. When we stopped by a nursery in North County, I found this one. I like it for a number of reasons. At the time, I didn't have any striped roses. It smelled great. And Dave liked it!! He actually had an opinion on a rose. That was the first time that had happened, so I almost had to get it.

It was planted behind the lemon tree on the front door side. It's doing so well. I love it. I wish the stripes would hold their white and not turn to pink quite so fast when it's hot, but it's still pretty regardless, and I bet in the cooler months the white will hold better.
