Tuscan Sun 2009

This rose is the least smelly of my new set, but the colors make up for it and it does have a pleasant light fragrance. The color is a stunning coppery orange that gets pinker as it ages. I already love how it looks on my deck with the mountains as backdrop.

The woman I chatted with while picking roses would have taken this one if I hadn't. =) We had fun... we both got there at opening for the mega-sale (50% off roses plus lots of other discounts) and the two of us browsed through the roses for a good hour. I found some she was interested in... she got the other Purple Tiger they had in stock, and I found an Austin rose for her, too. She's redoing her whole back garden, though, so had more room to put roses. She left with 11. It was fun to have a rose partner, so to speak... we'd haul out different ones and discuss them, point out potentials to the other person, describe our own experiences with certain varieties...

They won't stay in these pots permanently, but I'm leaving them there for a while. I like them out on the deck with the sky and mountains behind them. :)

Current order, front to back: Carol Burnett, (mislabeled) Windermere, Purple Tiger, Enchanted Evening, Pope John Paul II, and Tuscan Sun.

The first flower opening of the buds that have formed since I bought the bush.

Heading into its first rebloom since I bought the plant. Love the color of it. I was really happy that this bud survived the rain and wind... other roses didn't.

Julie wanted more sparkle...

Water drops on Tuscan Sun this morning after the latest round of rain. I do love the colors here... the dusky orange with the blush of pink.

Tuscan Sun after the latest round of rain. I think that's finally supposed to be it for the rain this week. Yeesh.

I'm so drawn to this flower and its particular shade of orange/pink. The cooler weather is nice because the blooms last longer.
